your Acne could be a sign of something more - how to stop the breakouts.

Looking deeper in to your Acne may be the key to preventing breakouts and clearing up your Acne for life.

Acne Vulgaris is a common condition, seen in men and women that can be detrimental to a person’s quality of life. So why are there such limited options for Acne treatment?

I have a huge passion for treating Acne – because I know the affects it can have beyond Skin Health.

Anxiety, Depression, OCD, even Suicide are very real symptoms people experience when dealing with Teenage and Adult Acne.

And what are your options? Antibiotics, The Pill, Roaccutane, and Topical Medication.

But, if one of the main driver’s of Teenage and Adult Acne are hormonal changes, why is this not being addressed? Even though the Pill is meant to ‘fix’ your hormones, it absolutely doesn’t- it switches them off completely. This may mean clear skin while on the medication, but when your ready to go off it- it often comes back worse.

These bandaid solutions, in my opinion, are short term. How do we get long term benefits for Acne?

We look at what may be underlying the Acne.

  • Hormones
  • Stress
  • Dysbiosis
  • Nutrient deficiencies
  • Environmental Toxicity
All of these play a major role in the pathogenesis of Acne.

Particularly Hormones.

Did you know that you convert most of your Androgens (male sex hormones) in the sebaceous glands on your skin? Did you also know that more androgens = more sebum = more androgens ? It is a vicious cycle- for men and for women.

Androgens are a major driver of Teenage and Adult acne, but the solution doesn’t lie in blocking Androgens off completely. It lies in understand WHY you may be experiencing increased Androgen production- if you have it.

  • Stress drives Androgen production
  • Ovarian follicles drive Androgen production
  • Insulin Resistance drives Androgen production
  • Dysbiosis slows Androgen excretion
  • Environmental Toxicity slows Androgen excretion
  • Post-Pill increases Androgen production
But this Hormonal influence MAY only be ONE factor in your case. Everyone is different, every Acne presentation is different, we want to look at you individually.
